MEIFHA Launches Preseason Development 2026

Metro East Inferno Female Hockey Association is pleased to offer Preseason Development Sessions for divisions U7 – U18 during the month of September.  These sessions will provide our players with the opportunity to get on the ice prior to the start of the regular season. Please note: All Preseason Development Sessions are OPTIONAL.

Options for Preseason Development Sessions and U13/U15 Evaluations:

The past 3 seasons, MEIFHA tested an initiative to provide greater flexibility, and control of the hockey preseason, with the intention of providing a more positive environment for players at both preseason development sessions and evaluations. Careful consideration of member feedback has influenced a few changes to our planned process for 2026-27 but the following remain like last season: 

• Simplified options for Preseason Development Sessions for players U11 - U18.
• Preseason Development Session for U7 players, after a successful initial run in 2025!
• Players U11 to U18 must join Evaluations at the top level -or opt out, as per last season.

2026 - 27:

• C or REC category hockey at the U15 and U18 age divisions may be offered pending formation of leagues. Players who do not wish to play AAA or AA are to register for A without Evaluations, at this time.
• An additional step again this season for ALL players registering for U15/U18 A Hockey: We ask that ALL U15 and U18 A players registering directly to A (without Evaluations), select one of the following products (at no charge):
  1. U15/U18 New to Hockey:
     If your player was born 2009 - 2013 but new to hockey.
  2. U15/U18 Expression of Interest in C (REC) Hockey: 
     If your player was born 2009 - 2013 and would prefer to play C (REC) hockey if a league is formed.
  3. U15/U18 A adding Evaluations IF C (REC) proceeds:
     If your playe was born 2009 - 2013, registering for A but would choose to be evaluated for A (REP) Hockey, at an additional cost of $150, if U15 and/or U18 C (REC) leagues are added for the upcoming season.
• If C (REC) hockey leagues are formed for U15 then U15 A registered players who selected option 3, may be asked to participate in Evaluations, at an additional cost of $150. These players would be contacted as required.
• If C (REC) hockey leagues are formed for U18, then U18 A registered players who selected option 3, may be asked to participate in Evaluations, at an additional cost of $150. These players would be contacted as required.

PRESEASON DEVELOPMENT SESSIONS: All start/end dates may vary. Chart below is an approximate schedule only.

 

 

 

 

For U11 - U18 Players:

CHOOSE Preseason Development Sessions (PDS) - REP Hopefuls  IF your player:

• • is keen to hit the ice with fellow Inferno REP Hopefuls before Evaluations begin (~ September 1st start)
  • will participate in U11 - U18 REP Player Evaluations

Please note: Preseason Development Sessions - REP Hopefuls is not a registration option for players NOT participating in Evaluations.

OR Preseason Development Sessions (PDS) - REC IF your player:

• • isn't participating in any REP Player Evaluations this season, but is still keen to hit the ice with fellow Inferno before regular season begins (~ September 20th start). For players direct to REC U11C, U13 C, U15 A/C, U18 A/C.

Please note: Preseason Development Sessions - REC is not a registration option for players participating in Evaluations. 

For U9 Players:

Choose Preseason Development Sessions (PDS) - U9 - BLOCK 1 IF your player:

• • is keen to hit the ice as early as possible (~ September 13th start)

AND/OR Preseason Development Sessions (PDS) - U9 - BLOCK 2 IF your player:

• • is keen to hit the ice early, but only before balancing (~ September 22nd start)
  • chooses to keep going after Block 1 by adding Block 2 - totally up to you and your player!

For U7 Players:

Choose Preseason Development Sessions (PDS) - U7 IF your player:

• • is keen to hit the ice (U7 sessions are intended to run once a week starting ~ September 20th)
