Hockey Canada Age Divisions

Age group names for minor hockey

Find out when your child can begin playing minor hockey. Learn about age-appropriate development as players advance to successive age divisions.

Hockey Canada and its 13 members have ratified age division names changes for all levels of minor hockey. The changes create a simpler and more consistent reference for parents registering their children.

The changes taking effect for 2020-21 season registration.

Only the names will change. Actual divisions remain consistent with past seasons. Areas with Major and Minor designations within divisions will continue to do so under the new naming format.

Congratulations Metro East Inferno Teams

2020-03-09

nsfemalechamps2020
The Metro East Inferno executive would like to take this opportunity to express our overwhelming pride in our amazing Inferno girls!

SEVEN Metro East teams in this weekend's Provincial Championships and Day of Champions is amazing and provided for so much excitement and many memorable moments. It's very worthy to note that we had an Inferno team in each of the Atom, Pee Wee, and Bantam Divisions of the B Championships, in the inaugural season for the Category. I think it is safe to say that female hockey is alive and growing in Metro East. These results are worth promoting as we have all worked so hard as players, parents and volunteers to make this happen:

Atom AA: Mya MacCormick and Lily Kate Williams - Atom AA All Star Team

Atom B Fire: Provincial Silver-medalists after an exciting 4-3 double-OT Championship Game!!

Peewee B Ice: Provincial Silver-medalists after an exciting 1-0 Championship game!

Bantam AA:

Taeyeon Kim = Top Defenseman
- Inhye Jang = All-Star Team Goalie
- Bella House = All-Star Team Forward

Bantam A: Provincial Silver-medalists after an exciting 3-1 Championship Game!

Bantam B Ice: Our Bantam B Ice team are Provincial Champions after and exciting 4-2 win over Metro West Force Sharp Shooters!
Bantam B Ice - Day of Champions Gold

Midget AA:

Our Midget AA team are Provincial Champions for the second year in a row! Their back to back championship quest was realized after a nail-biting 2-0 win over Fundy-Highland!
- Top Defense:  Molly MacKinnon
All Star Goalie:   Allie Clark.

Yours in hockey,

Chris

Female U16 at the Atlantic Challenge Cup

A huge congratulations goes out to Bella House on her recent gold medal as a member of Team Nova Scotia U16 at the Atlantic Challenge Cup which was played in Moncton this past weekend.  Bella currently plays on the Bantam AA team for the Metro East Inferno and was the only member of our association selected to play on the U16 team.

The Nova Scotia team went undefeated en route to the gold medal.  Bella has the opportunity to play in next year's tournament as well as she was one of 6 under agers on this years team.  Bella is pictured above, along with the other under agers, front row on the right side.
