Regional Director - Metro East Region

Anyone interested in volunteering to be the Regional Director on the Female Council of HNS, to please reach out to Patti Gallant (president@metroeastinferno.ca) by end of day Wednesday, April 22, 2026.

Nominations will then be sent to Hockey Nova Scotia and if an election is required, information will follow.

Thank you,

MEIFHA.

As you are all know, Hockey Nova Scotia is very fortunate to have many dedicated volunteers across every level of our game who help to ensure that the sport we love is safe and welcoming for all of our participants.

Every two years, positions on Hockey Nova Scotia’s Female Council come up for election. With this in mind, we encourage anyone looking to volunteer with our Female Council team to seek nomination from their association for one of our positions.

In April 2021, Hockey Nova Scotia’s board of directors unanimously accepted a recommendation from the Hockey Nova Scotia Diversity and Inclusion Task Force’s final report to pursue more diversity on boards, councils, committees, and staff. We encourage applicants from diverse communities to apply for these positions, as part of our ongoing effort to promote diversity and inclusion at all levels of hockey.

You will find a list below of the Regional Director positions on Hockey Nova Scotia’s Female Council currently up for election.

  • Metro East Region: 2-year term
  • Quad County: 2-year term
  • Cape Breton: 2-year term
  • Valley: 2-year term

Should more than one person be nominated, an election location and date/time will be sent out to all voting delegates in the region.

For more information on the Female Council Regional Director role, please refer to Hockey Nova Scotia Female Hockey Regulations (Page 142).

Yours in Hockey,

Leijsa Wilton

Heidi Stevenson Scholarship Deadline May 15, 2026

Heidi Stevenson Scholarship

Heidi Stevenson was an active mom, a loving wife, a dedicated daughter and a cherished friend. She lived life with kindness and confidently stood up for what she believed in. Whether volunteering, planning bake sales or coaching, her passion for people and community shone brightly. Heidi served as a member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police for 23 years and tragically lost her life in the line of duty in April 2020.

Thanks to a generous (anonymous) donor we are honoured to offer a $1,000 scholarship in Heidi’s memory to a Metro East Inferno player.

To apply, we ask that graduating players write a short essay as to how their Metro East Inferno hockey experience related to some, several, or all the core values of honesty, integrity, professionalism, compassion, accountability, respect, hard work, and bravery. Please submit the essay in PDF form to Patti Townsend president@metroeastinferno.ca by May 15, 2026.
