National Women's Team COACHES HOT STOVE
2021-03-22
You're invited! Wednesday, March 24 @ 7 pm
Good afternoon,
My name is Savannah Newton and I am the new High Performance Female Coach for Hockey Nova Scotia. It is with great excitement that I invite you to take part in the NWT Coaches Hot Stove, an online event we are co-hosting with Hockey Canada’s National Women’s Team (NWT) as the first official event leading up to the tentatively scheduled – and highly anticipated – 2021 IIHF Women’s World Hockey Championship coming to Nova Scotia on May 6-16.
We are thrilled to announce this event has been developed specifically for our province’s network of coaches who coach female players. It will take place on Wednesday, March 24 at 7 p.m. AT online over the Zoom platform.
The NWT Coaches Hot Stove panel will include two national team coaches: head coach Troy Ryan and assistant coach Kori Cheverie. It also includes three national team athletes: Blayre Turnbull, Sarah Nurse, and Natalie Spooner.
Throughout the evening, the panel will break down and discuss important women in sports issues like the different approaches to coaching females and strategies to elevate the female game. Panel members will also be answering the questions submitted by those who register for the event.
We are excited to share that Tara Slone, co-host of Rogers Hometown Hockey and host of Top Of [Her] Game will be the moderator for the evening.
The mission of the National Women’s Team is to leave a footprint and legacy wherever they go. The team wants to make an impact in Nova Scotia and to help continue to grow the female game in our province. This event aims to support our Nova Scotia coaching community by connecting them with the staff, athletes, and resources of the national program.
Please accept our formal invitation to this event. You can register through the link below. You are strongly encouraged to submit your questions through the registration link in advance of the event.
While this event will focus on hockey in Nova Scotia, anyone interested in learning about coaching female athletes is encouraged to take part in the discussion.
Please submit registrations before this Saturday (March 20) at midnight to be entered to win a Hockey Canada autographed jersey and additional prizes. We will keep registration open until one hour prior to the event.
Thank you and we look forward to discussing the female game with you on Wednesday, March 24.
Sincerely,
Savannah Newton
